"Feelin' Blue" - Blue Horrors

Happy days and welcome back to another week of The Art of Caesura!

Most things on this blog are pretty happy. These guys, however, are not!

In Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower, there are some big squidgy pink guys called...Pink Horrors, who are really jolly, but super annoying in the game because when you kill one of them he splits into two of these grumpy Blue Horrors.

I really want to tie all my Horrors together, chromatically, to emphasize their genealogical connection. Big words to say that I fore-went painting their flames the mystical blues, greens, and blue-greens that I've seen other people do (to great effect) and painted them exactly as I did the little Brimstone Horrors. I painted their tongues the same way (yellow, fading to ashy black) to contrast the purple-blue skin tones.

I also alternated their metal bands between silver and brass on the identical models, just to jazz things up a little. I like how they turned out and am looking forward to working in a bit of blue when I get around to painting the Pink Horrors.

The complexion of a light-skinned face divides into three zones: The forehead has a light golden colour because it's freer of muscles and surface capillaries. Without a doubt, the big reveal of the festival was the new Contrast Paints that Games Workshop are touting.
