Welcome one and all to the inaugural post of The Art of Caesura!

Just so no one feels misled into reading further unwittingly, despite its name, this is not a literary blog nor is it strictly about art. I anticipate that this blog will be a fun weekly diversion for me (and I hope for you too, dear readers) from the daily hustle and bustle.

A bit about me: I am a pretty big fan of many things in life. I am recently engaged. I am pushing 30. And because a lot of people identify by place, I’ll tell you that after working a year in Australia and travelling through South East Asia, I recently moved to stunning South West Ireland - if you’ve ever cycled the Ring of Kerry, you’ll know that it is a place to write home about!

Now, Onwards! I think this blog will be predominantly about painting miniatures, but I can’t promise that I won’t post about home-brewing beer, guitar, Ireland, diving, hiking…but we’ll start small. With miniatures.

Like many people hoping for a bit more out of themselves, I made a few resolutions at New Year’s:

1) Complete one miniature per week

2) Memorize one new song per month

3) Appreciate life

So hopefully you guys will be there to encourage and help keep me honest.

The complexion of a light-skinned face divides into three zones: The forehead has a light golden colour because it's freer of muscles and surface capillaries. The ears, cheeks and nose all lie within the central zone of the face. Those areas have more capillaries carrying oxygenated blood near the surface, causing the reddish colour...
